Community outreach

Every year, 8Twelve makes a point of engaging on a few philanthropic initiatives designed to make a difference in other people’s lives. Whatever we do and however we donate, it’s always towards causes we’re passionate about. Here’s what we’ve been up to since 2019.

Victim Services of York Region (VSY)

Grounded in empowerment and prevention through education and advocacy, the Victim Services of York Region helps victims of crime and tragic circumstances in an effort to meet their needs in the short-term. This is done through emotional support, practical assistance and recommendations on the right community resources to help them obtain the continued support they need. VSY is a non-profit, charitable organization that works in collaboration with York Regional Police, Ontario Provincial Police, Aurora Detachment, and York Regional Fire Services. 8Twelve was thrilled to help VSY create awareness for their partners, clients and the general public to donate essential items including personal care goods, linens and food. Our campaign ran from Mid-December 2019 to Mid-January 2020, with all donations going towards the 2019 Winter Sponsorship.

The 482 Collective
Through its mission to help women, children, and single parents who are bravely struggling to rebuild their lives after experiencing trauma or abuse, The 482 Collective focuses on providing timely support of non-perishable food items, cleaning supplies, and personal hygiene products to individuals and families in need. At the heart of this non-profit organization is Maureen Leshem and a team of passionate volunteers, contributors, and partners who are energized by giving on a human level, in a way that preserves the dignity of those in need. The people they support have experienced any – or many – of the following forms of abuse: intimate partner/domestic violence, physical/emotional abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, poverty, or homelessness – all while raising children. The 482 Collective recognizes that an abusive situation is one of the most complex and isolating experiences a person can face. Harnessing the collective generosity and resources of the community can make a world of difference and create a sense of hope for the future.

8 Twelve thoroughly enjoys working with the team at The 482 Collective and is honoured to be one of their corporate partners and more recently, two of our principal leads have joined their board of directors.
